This page provides a listing of professional development opportunities for all school support staff, including paraprofessionals, teachers and administrators.  You will find professional development opportunities available from SST 7 and other regional educational agencies.  

 

We will do our best to list them by date here, but we also suggest that you visit our Events Calendar, which you can print for your convenience.  Please remember, as in the past, attendees need to register in STARS (if applicable) to attend the sessions.

March 21, 2019 - (1:00 pm - 3:30 pm) - OIP Network/Training Series

February 12 and February 20, 2019 - (8:30 am - 3:30 pm) - PBIS Training - 2 part series

Location:  State Support Team Region 7, 1495 W. Longview Ave., Mansfield, OH  44906

Description: District and/or building leadership teams will (a) develop a fundamental understanding of School-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports and its intended purpose and outcomes in order to create, implement, monitor, evaluate and sustain a PBIS framework; (b) develop and demonstrate a basic understanding of how to access and use online resources such as www.pbis.org and www.pbisapps.org in creating a School-wide PBIS framework; and (c) develop and demonstrate a basic understanding of how to access and use the PBIS resources provided.

Description: Goals: (1) Apply communication skills in order to operationalize ways to use inviting language with parents/families. (2) Utilize growth mindset/habits of mind skills to increase family engagement and draw upon family's assets and interests. (3) Improve language and literacy opportunities at home and at school. (4) Examine language and literacy resources for everyday family activities to support early literacy and promote family engagement. Participants are encouraged to attend all series events: September 21, 2018, November 9, 2018, January 25, 2019, and March 22, 2019.  Registration is through STARS and OCCRA.

Description: AASCD Training is required for anyone who is administering or is a second rater for the Alternate Assessment for the first time this school year (2018-19).  The full day training is required.  AASCD Training is recommended for any Test Administrator or Second Rater who has previously been trained in the current AASCD.  This can be accomplished by attending the afternoon (12:30 - 3:00) of one of the meetings.  Another option is that ODE will be providing a webinar on the AASCD portal for a refresher (information will be sent out when it is available)

January 22, 2019 - (8:30 am - 3:00 pm) - PBIS: Evidence-Based Practices

Location:  State Support Team Region 7, 1495 W. Longview Ave., Mansfield, OH  44906

Description: During this learning opportunity, participants will receive explicit instruction in evidence based practices aligned to Tiers 1, 2 and 3 within the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports {PBIS) framework. Participants will choose the tier of support about which they want to learn. During provided worktime, participants will use the PBIS Tiered Fidelity Inventory to determine which features their school   currently has in place at that tier, their needs based on their data and next steps needed to advance the development  of that tier.  Upon completion of the day, participants will return to their school prepared   to communicate their learning to their colleagues with the purpose of strengthening the tiers of support within their PBIS framework.
